Supply Lists

The following are the required supplies for each of Inglenook Studio’s classes and workshops. If you have questions about any of the supplies please contact Irene at 807-467-3304 or e-mail irene@inglenookartstudio.com

Weekly Classes Supply Lists

Beginner Acrylic Painting

  • A beginner set of acrylic paints
    • If the set doesn’t included orange and purple please get them. Also, extra white will be necessary.
  • Misket or Frisket (different brand names for a liquid resist)
  • Gesso (white)
  • Glazing fluid
  • 8×10 boards (10 0f them)
    • Dollar Store works well.
  • 2   12×16” canvasses
  • Pencil
  • Brushes:
    • one 1” or 2” flat (hardware store specials are good)
    • #8 round
    • a script or rigger brush.
  • Water container
  • Paper towels
  • Palette (I’ve used paper plates…so easy to clean)
  • Palette knife-with an elbow. Any size.
  • Mist-er

Continuing with Acrylic

  • Paint: this list contains suggestions. Not to panic if you don’t have or can’t find a colour.
    • Two reds (suggest alizarin crimson and cadmium red lt)
    • Two blues (suggest phthalo blue and ultramarine)
    • Two yellows (yellow ochre and cadmium yellow med)
    • An orange
    • Dioxanine purple
    • A black
    • Titanium white
    • Burnt Sienna
  • Brushes: bring what you’ve got
  • Misket or Frisket
  • Glazing Fluid
  • White Gesso
  • Gel Medium Heavy Matte
  • Canvasses:
    • 6 small 8×10” practice boards
    • 6   12 x 16” canvasses or boards
  •   A mist-er
  •   Water container
  •   Paper towels
  •   Palette knife

Beginning Watercolour

  • A beginning set of watercolour paints.
    • If your set does not include an orange, a purple and a burnt sienna, please add those colours.
  • Brushes:
    • 1” flat wash brush
    • #8 round Princeton (or equivalent)
    • a rigger or script brush
  • Misket or frisket (different brand names for a liquid resist)
  • Palette
  • Water container
  • Paper towels
  • A mist-er
  • Natural sponge
  • Salt (any kind)
  • Paper: must be Arches 140 lb cold-pressed, 100% cotton (if you can’t find this, Inglenook will have it available at cost)

Continuing with Watercolour

  • Paints: bring your usual paints.
    • Pls add cad orange, dioxanine purple, burnt sienna if you don’t have those in your collection.
  • Brushes:
    • a wash brush
    • a round brush
    • a rigger or script brush.
  • Palette
  • Water container
  • Paper towels
  • A mist-er
  • Salt

Drawing

  • 14”x17” (or larger) sketchbook
  • Newsprint ( dollar-store scrapbook works well)
  • Pencils HB, 2B, 4B
  • Fine-tip water-based marker OR sketch’n wash pencil OR Derwent Sketching pencil, medium wash OR a black watercolour pencil
  • Brush: round #8 (Princeton select round) or equivalent
  • Kneaded eraser

Urban Sketching

  • Journal or sketchbook with good quality paper (90lb minimum, preferably bound at top)
  • Watercolour pencils
  • Pencils HB, 2B, 2H
  • Black water-based marker
  • Eraser
  • Water brush or #6 round brush and small water container
  • Paper towels

Sketching with Watercolour Pencils

  • A set of watercolour pencils (preferably Derwent or Staetler) OR a set of Derwent Inktense pencils
  • Brush #6 round (Princeton select round or equivalent)
  • Watercolour paper in journal or pad format (minimum 140 lb)
  • Water container
  • Paper towels
  • Exacto blade

Collagraph Printmaking

  • Exacto blade (with new sharp blades)
  • Bits of collage materials (anything with an interesting texture)
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Acrylic gloss medium
  • Matte board or cardboard, 2 pieces no larger than 9 x 18”
  • Cheesecloth (starched, if possible. Called tarlatan)
  • Paper towel
  • Printmaking paper will be available at Inglenook at cost.

Linocut Printmaking

  • Inglenook will have on hand gouging tools, brayers, printing ink, linoblocks and printmaking paper.
  • A materials cost will be required to be paid to Inglenook Studio in addition to the registration fee.
  • Participants should bring paper towels and latex gloves.
