Because yupo paper is plastic, it’s possible (and fun) to lift colour with a simple sweep of a damp cloth. First I painted the blue/green background, then wiped off the area where I wanted the dragon’s head. I drew the essential dragon shapes with red ink.

I started painting dragons in March 2020…who knows why…but they quickly became a visual representation of our COVID-19 battles. Since then, I’ve branched out, creating all kinds of dragons in various media. The magic of fantasy is so much fun, I’ve set a goal of 100 dragon images.
